36 hours in Vancouver

What does one do after disembarking from an all-you-can-eat cruise? Go to breakfast, of course! We chose possibly the worst value – and quite probably the sheer worst – breakfast buffet in the city, at the top of the Cloud Nine non-revolving restaurant.

Here is Karen pointing out some mist while attempting to keep down some ghastly ‘meat’ and cold eggs. Note the empty plate in the foreground – I had no such culinary qualms. We spent the day wandering round the city, mostly Granville Island and Yaletown.

A little vintage shopping then Karen left us to get the bus back to Seattle. For some reason, Jess and I then went up another non-revolving observation tower (the LookOut), this one a vast improvement if only due to the complete lack of lukewarm baked beans and stewed tea.

The next day, we hiked rather slowly around Stanley Park.

Naturally, we stopped for public art…

In the afternoon, an extremely civilised train ride home…
