Sorry, way, way behind with the blog. I’ll try to catch up while I’m recovering from my broken shoulder but no promises!
Eons ago, in March, I went to Boston for the weekend to interview Dr Stephen Wolfram for The Economist and hang out with Bill. Here’s what happened. Red-eye to Bill’s, where winter still had a grip – the lake was frozen!
We went into town and explored the new American wing of the MFA, which was pretty impressive – despite the enormous Chihuly glass thingy in the atrium. This is me shaking my fist at it.
On the Sunday, we headed into South Boston (‘Southie’) for the St Patrick’s Day Parade, a heaving maelstrom of green clothing and pasty white skin. The tube in was insanely crowded – I thought Bill was going under at one point…
Plenty of Oirish characters to observe…
And I even got into the spirit of things!
Of course no St Paddy’s Day would be complete without a drunk Irihs policeman…
And a shamrock-encrusted HumVee. Good times.
As a vain attempt to up the cultural quotient, we went to the lovely DeCordova sculpture park on Monday – and it even started snowing!
