The week before Kate’s wedding, the Watts family started flooding into town, so Raleigh decided to treat Peggy and me to an overnight sail to Blake Island just beyond Elliot Bay.
We had a very light sail (mostly a motor) out to the island, whereupon the weather immediately brightened up.
Peggy and I set off for a walk around the island. It was a really lovely 3-mile woodland hike without a person to be seen – although we did have some company.
The island is also home to a relocated Indian village, where tourists can enjoy a salmon dinner and some native dancing. We just enjoyed grilled asparagus and tuna on the boat!
Not the best night’s sleep on board – it was roasting hot and I was still very much in recovery mode with my arm. But lovely to be out on Ulithi with such great company. It felt like a mini holiday!
